This issue of at HOME reveals how some Solano County folks have redefined "home entertainment." The pictures and the story by our writer, Sally Miller Wyatt, are mustsee, must-read pleasures.
It starts with our cover photo, a peek inside the rural Vacaville home of Ennio DiPianto, one who I count among my best friends. He does wonders, with a little help from his brother, Dino, and his friends, with such gifts from God as olives and grapes. A wine lover needs a good place to enjoy the fruits of his labor, and Ennio has just that.
John and Patsy Van Ouwerkerk, meanwhile, have brought a bit of the Hawaiian tropics to their Buck Avenue home in Vacaville. With the help of Holzapple Construction, the couple created an oasis where friends gather for darts, pinball, good conversation and a tune from the jukebox.
Then we visit with Constance and Doug Salisbury of Vacaville, who have done a little bit of everything to their home. Their "G-rated adult playland," as Constance calls it, has plenty of room for wine drinkers, pool players and cigar smokers, all of whom can peacefully and comfortably co-exist.
Expect to finish reading this month's feature story with a lot of envy as you jealously learn how "home entertainment" can be a redefined right here in Solano County.
And while we continue to enjoy the mild summer days and evenings, and endure the warmer spate of weather that comes and goes, it's not too early for gardeners to think about the fall crops. Inside find our tips on how to take advantage of the "second season" in Solano.
Get out the gloves and hand tools and dig in.
